Make the optional voluntary contribution more clear

One of our donors complained that the donation to Zeffy was not optional. Turns out they did not understand that you have to change from the suggested donation percentage to be "other" and then type in "0". Could that be customized/changed? We would prefer there be a 0% option directly in the drop down menu.

How is Zeffy working to explain the contribution model?
We understand that our model may not be familiar for most donors, that’s why we mention it twice on our forms. The first - when the donor is beginning to fill it out and the second - at the payment confirmation step. We’ve also added additional opportunities for donors to learn more about our model on our forms, in donor confirmation emails, in the donor dashboard and more.
As for the transparency and accessibility to adjust the contribution, we are working on various design options that we will be rolling out in the coming months. These type of changes affect both donors and nonprofits, therefore we need to do extensive testing to see the impact on donor experience along with the impact on our model.
It's important to us that donors understand and encourage our model, so changes moving forward will be focused on the donor experience.
How can we facilitate donor understanding?
Because we know that our model is newer and donors are curious by nature, we need your help to explain the voluntary contribution to them along with how Zeffy benefits your organization. Our model is about providing you with free technology, but it is also about collaboration. We would be extremely grateful if you encouraged your donors to contribute to Zeffy so that we can continue to provide our tools for free.

Changing Donation Option

We have received a few complaints about the donation option just before payment. Is it possible to add a zero amount option, so purchasers who wish not to donate can easily find this option? The other option and adding zero can be confusing to some purchasers. Thank you!

Something is not right here. Multiple people have contacted us to say they did not donate due to a 17% fee. I don't have the inside knowledge to know exactly why you would ignore a customer request with almost 500 votes. I do know that it's not a good look for you and has my Org looking for other options.

17% is way too much for the default amount. I understand that Zeffy needs to get its funding from somewhere and also cover the credit card fees, but 17% is egregious. I would have the default set to somewhere between 5% and 10%. A clearer explanation would be great as well.

we have also received complaints about this. I would love if the 'suggested amount' could be more clear and a lower range. we would be more than happy to pay a monthly fee instead of reverting to 'network for good'.

I have had complaints about the section where the buyer is asked to donate to Zeffy, Can you set the default to $0 or just as (yes/no) if they want to donate, open the options if they say yes?

Can you change the default donation amount to $0 or ask whether the person wants to make a donation (yes or no). If they say Yes, open a window where they can select the amount. A default of 17.00% is too much for most of our customers.

It would be great to have the ability to change the note on the make a donation line. When looking at sales I have a program that requests a % of company program profits - right now I have a special note that they understanding the use of this line but under Sales it would be nice to be able to leave the amount open or offer customising the donation line.

Agree. You have to know to click the box down, select other and leave it blank. Also, because the default suggested amount is 17%, that's so close to the VAT amount that people thing they are being charged VAT on top of the ticket price, if they haven't read it properly.

I know for sure that the high % of the default donation has discouraged people from buying tickets to events or transacting on the platform. I am considering switching for this reason.
